A glitter project at last

I am supposed to be doing a class for my Mum and her friends on Wednesday and the last thing she said to me about it today was.... can we do something other than cards.  I only do the class for her once a month and we haven't made that many cards, but what the heck.

One of the things that I have been wanting to try is making flowers from spirals of card stock or paper.  I thought that this was a good opportunity to give it a go and also thought I could make some into a broach.  On Saturday (more about this in my next post), Amy also told me that the new Crafty Boots Challenge was glitter related and of course that fits in well with my theme for the month. So with this project I get to "kill three birds with one stone".

I started by punching out some scraps of Designer Series Paper (I used bits of the lovely Spice Cake from the Spring Mini) using the Scallop Circle Punch and I also punched out some Pool Party using the Large Scallop Circle Punch (also in the Spring Mini). I then scrunched the card stock a little to give the paper some texture,

before cutting it freehand into a spiral.

I then rolled the spiral up pretty tight and glued it to the central piece that was left at the centre of the spiral. I did this with all three pieces of card stock and then glued them to a piece of Very Vanilla card stock that had been embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and then punched out using the Square Scallop punch. I also added three branches from the Bird Builder Punch to give it additional effect.

Last but not least I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the flowers and the leaves.

The whole thing was then glued to a piece of Lucky Limeade that had been punched out using the Square Punch and a broach pin was fixed to it using a brad. The Very Vanilla card stock with the flowers on was then adhered to the Lucky Limeade square.

Here is the broach attached to the lapel of my coat.

I think that these little broaches would make great gifts but with the weather being what it is at the moment I would not recommend wearing it at the moment.
