Featuring Birthday Blossoms

Have any of you decided what your favourite stamp set in the 2015 Annual Catalogue is yet? I featured one of mine last week, and this week I have another to share with you.

There are so many lovely sets to choose from and this week I have chosen one from the Birthday Section of the Catalogue. Some of you will have already seen it as we did use it at one of my recent classes. It's called Birthday Blossoms and I love it as it has a great background stamp and also lovely sentiments.

I have three different cards to show you over the course of the coming week. I made these using a variety of different techniques and the first one is below.

For this card I have used a couple of punches. I love 3D cards and punches are a great way to achieve this. The Pansy Punch co-ordinates with the flower in the stamp set and I also used the Label Bracket Punch for the sentiment. I'm sorry to say that the leaves do however have to be fussy cut by hand.

I'll let you into a little secret. I hadn't originally intended to use the Label Bracket Punch, but I stamped the greeting on the card a little bit too low for my liking, so I re-stamped it on a scrap piece of Whisper White and then punched it out. The greeting was then popped onto Dimensionals and the punched image was large enough to be moved a little higher on the card and still cover the original image. I love how you can use punches (and other things) to hide those little mistakes.

Shh don't tell anyone but, you can just make out
my little mistake under the punched greeting!

To make the card front, I stamped the background image a few times in Watermelon Wonder onto the Whisper White card stock. The flowers are Watermelon Wonder ink and card stock while the leaves are Cucumber Crush ink and card stock. The leaves and the bottom two flowers were simply glued onto the card (after I'd used my bone folder to curl the leaves a little), while the top flower was curled and then added using Dimensionals. A few large Basic Pearls in the centre of the flowers and all done.
